A few years back, I had wonderful opportunity to create and teach a summer screen printing class at Boone Elementary School in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago.
In the class, we did all kinds of group and individual projects including posters, t-shirts, print editions, notecards, stickers and calendars where the kids learned every step of the process.
The Site Word Superstar Program was a side idea that my friend, and fellow teacher, came up with to get younger students excited to learn sight words which lead to better reading skills. An important endeavor at a school where many students are not native English speakers and dozens of languages are spoken.
